Recent Progress in Solid Electrolytes for All-Solid-State Metal(Li/Na)–Sulfur Batteries

Metal–sulfur batteries, especially lithium/sodium–sulfur (Li/Na-S) have attracted widespread attention for large-scale energy application due to their superior theoretical density, low cost of sulfur compared conventional lithium-ion battery (LIBs) cathodes and environmental sustainability. Despite these advantages, metal–sulfur batteries face many fundamental challenges which put them on the back foot. The use ether-based liquid electrolyte has brought a critical stage by causing intermediate polysulfide dissolution results in poor cycling life safety concerns. Replacement solid (SEs) overcome large extent. This review describes recent development progress electrolytes all-solid-state Li/Na-S batteries. article begins with basic introduction explains challenges. We will discuss drawbacks using organic advantages replacing electrolytes. also explain requirements meeting practical applications all solid-state as well electrode–electrolyte interfaces
